Friends of Capel Manor is an integral part of the school community. In its time, the charity raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children’s educational experiences and the school’s facilities.
Our major fundraising activities this year included: a Quiz Night, Christmas Bazaar, Cake Sales and the Summer Fair.
We use these funds to pay for various things for the children including: a Year 6 Leaver’s party and Leaver’s book for our children going to secondary school, a coach trip for every class and a Christmas Pantomime for every child.

If you would like to be more involved and help out at events, or simply give us your ideas for fundraising events, please contact us on this email address:

The Friends of Capel Manor are a registered charity that’s run by parents of children who attend the school. Everyone is automatically a member of the Friends and everyone are warmly welcomed to join the meetings and get involved.

The current Friends are a relatively new group. Most of us have met through the Friends of Capel Manor wanting to save the charity from closing. We work really well together and enjoy what we do.

We are always in need of new enthusiastic members with ideas willing to join our whatsapp group and keep informed. Now we do understand that it can be difficult to dedicate your time when you have children and busy lives.

That's why we have now put in place other ways you can help raising money for our children’s charity.

Click on Parent View for your chance to tell Ofsted what you think about your child’s school, from the quality of teaching to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.

Matched funding

If you work for an organisation and they have a matched funding policy (sometimes called a corporate social responsibility policy), any money you raise for the school could be matched by your employer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Usually, the employee will need to supply them with a letter from the Friends detailing the date and nature of the event, together with the total raised.

If your employer operates a matched funding scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events and you are interested in helping us for any of our events, please let us know. This could be a significant source of income for The Friends and help us raise much needed money for Capel Manor Primary School at a time when central funding for education is under huge pressure.

If you think your company might be able to help, please contact Friends: friends@capelmanor.enfield.sch.uk

Class Reps wanted!!!

A class representative is a parent or carer who represents the other parents/carers of their child’s class. We’d like to suggest that each class has two representatives to share out the responsibilities.

For Reception parents/carers, it can be helpful if one class rep already has a child at the school and one is a parent/carer new to the school, who can then be shown the ropes.

Helping out with this role is also a great way for you to meet and make new friends.

What do they do?

The main responsibilities of the class representatives are to:

  •  help and encourage parents from the class to meet each other. Think about setting up a Whatsapp Group to help everyone in the class to keep in contact – it can be used for everyone to ask questions and remind each other of forthcoming school events such as class trips, parent’s evenings and Friends events.
  •  welcome new parents of children starting during the year and help introduce them to other parents in the class.
  •  meet ups with the Friends once a term – you will act as the interface between the other parents in your class and the school – providing feedback from class parents and telling them what was discussed in the meetings.
  •  help raise funds for the school by supporting Friends events, especially Christmas Market and the Summer fair by finding volunteers to help out on stalls.

How long do the class representatives undertake their role for?

Normally for the school year (September – July). You can carry on in the following year or another parent/carer can take over.

Bags 2 Schools

Bags 2 Schools is one of our annual fundraisers organised by the Friends of Capel Manor. Unwanted textiles are collected by our school community. The Friends of Capel Manor and our Junior Leadership Team help to collect the textiles. They are then loaded on to a van by our JLT. The clothes are taken away and weighed and a cheque is sent to us through the post!
