Attendance & Punctuality

As you can see in the table below at Capel Manor we have managed to improve our attendance figures over the past 3 years. Our target for the end of 2018 is to reach the national average of 96%.

If a child is prevented from attending due to sickness, parents/carers are asked to telephone/email the school on the morning of the first day of absence.

Telephone: 01992 764087

Although parents may offer a reason, only the school can authorise the absence. In the case of long term or frequent absence due to medical conditions, evidence from a GP or other relevant body may be requested.

Being on time is also vital as arriving late at school can be very disruptive for the late child, the teacher and other children in the class. Reading takes place from 9:00-9:30 daily in every class. If they are just 5 minutes late, they will not gain the full benefit of this activity. Please arrive at school between 8:50-9:00.

Types of attendance incentives

  • Children who are in school every day each week by 9am, will have their name written onto a raffle ticket which will be entered in to our weekly dip box prize draw in our 'Thank you assembly'.
  • Each class has the chance of winning an extra playtime weekly by having the best attendance in their phase.
