Debate Club 2020

We now have a lively weekly debate club running for years 5 & 6!

Each week the children meet with Miss Simmons; we start by playing a confidence and language building game such as the ‘yes/no’ game. Then we move on to debate a topic that might be based around current affairs or just popular opinion. The children are asked to do their own research to prepare for our debates and are given a side to debate for. This can be challenging as sometimes they have to argue for something they don’t really believe in. Their language skills are developing and the children are learning to respond quickly to the other side’s arguments. Sometimes, the debates get very lively!

We took part in an inter - schools competition in March 2020 and we learnt a lot from that experience.

If there are any Year 5 & 6’s that would be interested in joining, please come to see Miss Simmons.

Karate Club

Karate club is held every Thursday after school. Children in Key Stage 1 and 2 learn a range of moves to achieve focus and fitness. Progress is often marked by the belt system, taking the beginner from a white belt through a range of colors up to black.

Check out the fun they have, in the gallery below.
